Job Description
Under general direction from the Director of Training and Development, the Training and Development Specialist is responsible for a full range of professional development, employee education, and employee performance focused initiatives. This position manages all aspects of employee education programs including the design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of training and educational programs for management and employee developmentESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Conducts research using a variety of methods including research, job analysis, audience analysis, surveys and focus groups, among others. * Conducts needs assessments and drives the design and development of instructional plans from front end analysis to implementation. * Establishes rapport and credibility by engaging stakeholders (managers and employees) in a wide variety of learning needs and professional development issues. * Develops tools to evaluate training programs for effectiveness. * Selects appropriate instructional methods such as individual training, group facilitation, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play and computer-based training to ensure desired business outcomes are met. * Manages multiple projects including but not limited to leadership development, performance excellence, employee training and development, with varying timelines and deliverables. * Organizes and develops training materials, learning content and curricula, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials. * Trains assigned instructors and supervisory personnel in effective techniques for training, such as new employees’ orientation, on-the-job training, health and safety practices, and management development. * Facilitates programs for new and existing employees and managers. * Maintains current knowledge of adult learning and instructional system design best practices. * Serves as curriculum owner and manager for the assigned organizational area; coordinates maintenance of educational resources with the appropriate trainers or members of the business unit. * Coordinates established training courses with technical and professional programs offered both inside and outside of Leon Medical Centers. * Assists the Director of Training and Development with implementation, maintenance, and evaluation activities related to the performance management and learning management systems. * Partners with Human Resources teammates, Information Technology, and other business units to ensure strategic and operational goals are achieved. QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and ability to function well within a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Demonstrated presentation skills and the ability to deliver information in a clear, concise and effective manner. Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent organizational, strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and advise management on alternate methods for resolving business needs or problems. Creativity, analysis, ability to use judgement to make sound business decisions, organization, time management, and listening skills are required. Proven experience with Windows operating systems, and a variety of adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies and applications. The Training and Development Specialist must possess familiarity and diverse experience with a variety of applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applications. WORK EXPERIENCE Two to four (2-4) years of training or management experience, or equivalent healthcare experience is preferred. Experience with EPM/EMR applications strongly preferred. EDUCATION Minimum of Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Training or Human Resources is strongly preferred.
