PC Technician
The position of PC Technician operates as a member of the MIS Department and follows the objectives established by the Director of Information Technology. The PC Technician’s role is to support and maintain LMC in-house computer systems, desktops, servers and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware/software and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnoses and repairs hardware problems, set up, configure and test equipment. Performs preventative maintenance and install upgrades and options either in the workbench or at user location.
- Maintains current knowledge of repair practices, policies, and technical specifications of desktop hardware and general networking.
- Supports Windows 7, Windows XP and 2000/NT, Windows 98/95, Mac OS, and Linux workstations, as well as a wide range of proprietary software used in LMC healthcare.
- Performs preventative maintenance on workstations to ensure systems are performing at an optimum level; will assist in some server maintenance and support.
- Provides direct ongoing support to LMC staff on general computing issues including software upgrades and hardware troubleshooting and repair.
- Completes internal and vendor required documentation related to services, warranty tracking, inventory, and repair history.
- Contacts users as needed to discuss specific symptoms of equipment failure, nature of repairs required, and possible solutions to equipment problems.
- Contacts vendors for technical support and parts procurement both electronically and by telephone.
- Drives to LMC’s clinic and other locations in order to perform repairs or pick up and deliver equipment.
- Installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots and repairs various computer equipment, peripherals, data communication systems, and network systems.
- Participates in implementations and of the network and computing infrastructure plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Active Dictionary, Citrix, VMware, and Internet applications. Ability to assist with administration of a 1,000+ node network including Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches. Ability to support networked printers and photocopiers and working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies. Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously. Must demonstrate proficiency in various technology related hardware and software specific to the organization. Strong team player with the ability to multi task and work independently as needed. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and creativity skills in providing necessary support of the Information Technology Systems.
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least two (2) years experience as a PC Technician supporting both software and hardware functions.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science, Computer Science or Management Information Systems is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent in English and Spanish required.
