SUMMARY

 

The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for processing medical equipment orders within the organization. This process consists of verifying patient and order information, coverage and authorizations; and placing orders through our electronic system.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Performs initial processing of all orders including, but not limited to Ambulatory, Bathroom Aides, Hospital Beds, Standard Wheelchairs, Cpap/Bipap, Trach/Suction setup, Oximetry, Ostomy and Motorized/Customized Wheelchairs Orders
  2. Reviews patient demographics, verify eligibility and/or authorization
  3. Learns and implements Medicare guidelines
  4. Maintains compliance with HIPAA standards of patient and confidentiality.
  5. Provides telephonic support to patient inquires/services calls.
  6. Handles all Service assessment calls
  7. Processes and dispenses Wound Care Orders
  8. Handles New Patient Transitions and ensures that equipment is properly transitioned
  9. Works with Dispatch on ETA Calls
  10. Follows through an order from beginning to end. Provides Physician and patient with updates as needed
  11. Achieves a minimum of 20-25 orders processed a day
  12. Handles complaint calls and facilitates solutions for patients and providers
  13. Follows equipment recovery processes if and when a patient needs a pick-up of equipment, or a patient cannot be located
  14. Rotates On-Call for a week including Saturday rotation
  15. Rotates Holidays as needed
  16. Works disenrollment reports
  17. Rotates on-call whenever needed
  18. Follows company policy on accepting, assignment, documentation requirements, returns/refunds, repairs, and inventory procedures.
  19. Follows up on pending orders on a daily basis.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Required to uphold the principles of compliance as outlined in the Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook and related policies and procedures. Supports and participates in the mandatory Corporate Compliance Program training initiative on an annual or more frequent basis, as required.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Arts or Sciences from an accredited institution required. Graduate Degree strongly preferred.

Medical Background knowledge preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Fluent in English and Spanish required.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work schedule is approximate and hours/days may change based on company needs. All full-time employees are required to complete forty (40) hours per week as scheduled, including on weekends and holidays. Position requires the ability to work extended hours when necessary.

The work is performed indoors. Infrequent lifting up to 15 pounds.

 

Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility. Sits, stands, bends, lift, and moves intermittently during working hours. Interacts with patients, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies, etc., under a variety of conditions and circumstances. May be subject to hostile and/or emotionally upset patients, family members, staff, visitors, etc. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses. All employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Engerix Hepatitis B vaccination series.
