Optometric Technician

SUMMARY

Optometry Associates LLC is seeking a skilled and motivated Optometry Technician to join the team. In this key role, you will assist with pre-testing procedures such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception tests and support our eye care professionals in delivering exceptional care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Perform pre-testing procedures such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception tests.
2. Conduct specialized testing procedures such as visual field testing, retinal imaging, and corneal topography.
3. Prepare patients for examinations by the optometrist, including dilation of pupils.
4. Assist with contact lens fittings and provide instructions on lens insertion, removal, and care.
5. Educate patients on proper eyewear selection based on prescription and lifestyle needs
6. Maintains open channels of communication with center administration and other company departments; Answers all inquiries in a professional and courteous manner
7. Complies with Leon Medical Centers’ policies and procedures and maintains confidentiality in accordance with state and federal laws.
8. Assist with patient history taking and documenting relevant information in medical records.

QUALIFICATIONS  

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Ability to adjust based on business/department needs.
• Effective communication (listening, verbal and written) skills.
• Ability to provide clear instructions
• Good organization/attention to detail.
• Knowledge of optometric systems and electronic health record software.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document patient information.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one (1) of experience as an optometric technician or in a similar role is preferred.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or training in optometry is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Fluent in English and Spanish.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Ophthalmic Technician Certification is Preferred
