SUMMARY

The MRI Technologist operates the magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce quality images of the body for diagnostic purposes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares exam room following procedural requirements; performs equipment calibration as the institution requires.
  2. Responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes
  3. Perform complex tasks associated with operating high-field magnets and related equipment to produce quality images of specific body parts.
  4. Initiates peripheral intravenous line: documents IV sight, contrast media, and volume in the radiology flowchart.
  5. Prepares and properly positions patients for MRI scans while maintaining the safety of patients and staff.
  6. Thoroughly screen patients and anyone who may accompany them for MRI safety before procedure performance.
  7. Start IVs and administer contrast media as directed by the Radiologist per protocol.
  8. Monitors the patient’s physical condition to ensure their comfort during the procedure; reports a patient change of status or emergency to clinical staff, supervisor, and/ or Radiologist.
  9. Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.

Skills / Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as an MRI Tech
  • Ability to work independently and with other team members.
  • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.

EDUCATION

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology with specialized MRI training/certification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Bilingual (English/Spanish fluency required).

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Radiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging License required (R.T.(R)(MR)(ARRT))
  • CPR Certificate
