MRI Technologist
Job Description
SUMMARY
The MRI Technologist operates the magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce quality images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares exam room following procedural requirements; performs equipment calibration as the institution requires.
- Responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes
- Perform complex tasks associated with operating high-field magnets and related equipment to produce quality images of specific body parts.
- Initiates peripheral intravenous line: documents IV sight, contrast media, and volume in the radiology flowchart.
- Prepares and properly positions patients for MRI scans while maintaining the safety of patients and staff.
- Thoroughly screen patients and anyone who may accompany them for MRI safety before procedure performance.
- Start IVs and administer contrast media as directed by the Radiologist per protocol.
- Monitors the patient’s physical condition to ensure their comfort during the procedure; reports a patient change of status or emergency to clinical staff, supervisor, and/ or Radiologist.
- Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
Skills / Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as an MRI Tech
- Ability to work independently and with other team members.
- Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology with specialized MRI training/certification.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Bilingual (English/Spanish fluency required).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Radiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging License required (R.T.(R)(MR)(ARRT))
- CPR Certificate
