Low Voltage Technician
The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing network data cables, as well as maintaining communication rooms, pipe bending, cable supply inventories and associated documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Installs voice, data, TV, Coax and other cabling.
2. Terminates wires.
3. Installs J-Hooks and other organizational hardware.
4. Installs data equipment including data racks, patch panels, cable trays, etc.
5. Tests all installed cable using appropriate testing equipment and in accordance with established procedures.
6. Performs major and minor preventive maintenance and repairs by troubleshooting cabling system issues.
7. Identifies, tracks and removes abandoned cables.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
· Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
· Ability to climb ladders.
· Ability to maintain a professional appearance and represent employer in a manner that reflects positively on the image and reputation of the company for which they work.
· Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least two (2) years of experience with various cables including but not limited to: coax, twisted pair, Category 5-7, single and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
- IDF/MDF, rack install, fiber termination and testing experience.
- At least Two (2) years Low Voltage installation experience.
- Basic networking and wireless network experience.
- Basic electrical knowledge is preferred.
- Experienced with both Analog and IP security cameras.
- Experience with Alarm Systems is preferred.
