As a Fitness Assistant at Leon Healthy Living Centers, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our members have a safe, enjoyable, and effective workout experience. You'll be responsible for vigilantly monitoring participants to ensure their safety and proper use of equipment, providing expert instruction and assessments to guide members on their fitness journey, and actively engaging with members to monitor their performance and equipment usage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts Fitness Tours and Fitness Orientations.
- Provides information, assistance and direction for new participants with respect to Fitness Center programs.
- Conducts daily walk through of Fitness Center for operations standards.
- Assists in assessments and evaluations to determine and recommend member exercise program.
- Assists the Fitness Specialist in providing training, nutritional advice and exercise prescriptions.
- Assists instructor in providing fitness classes when required.
- Provides group fitness instruction, educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.
- Cleans and disinfects equipment and instruments after each use and at the end of the day.
- Assists in developing successful strategies to achieve Center’s goals and objectives.
- Maintain high professional standards of service, appearance and behavior.
- Identifies and reports all incidents that occur in the work area.
- Demonstrates courtesy and politeness to patients, visitors and other employees.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Maintain appropriate certifications as needed and requested by law including CPR/AED certification (from a nationally recognized agency); or obtained within two (2) months of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Some knowledge in all areas of fitness leadership instruction
- Experience working with the senior population is highly preferred.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and resolve conflicts and problems courteously and tactfully.
- Be committed to encourage and motivate others to exercise and maintain healthy lifestyle through personal example.
EDUCATION
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completed or currently enrolled in an accredited academic credit program or in a nationally recognized certificate program in Health/Wellness Science, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, Personal Fitness Training or a related field
- A degree in health science (physiology, kinesiology) and fitness and/or experience in the implementation of large-scale fitness programs is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent in English and Spanish required.
