Take a lead role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of critical facility infrastructure. The Facilities Engineer coordinates facility design initiatives, develops and oversees preventative maintenance programs, and supports the ongoing performance of building systems and equipment. This position manages key infrastructure assets, including energy and power distribution systems, emergency generators, HVAC systems and controls, roofing systems, and elevator inspections and maintenance. The Facilities Engineer also maintains facility plans and records, drives special projects, and collaborates with Real Estate Operations, Construction Management, Maintenance, Security, vendors, contractors, design professionals, and facility users to deliver high-quality facility services and operational excellence.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Power Management – Responsible for a continuous, clean, efficient flow of energy to all facilities.

2. Emergency Generators – Responsible for design coordination, commissioning and recommissioning of systems when needed, preventative maintenance plans including implementation and oversight of the same, testing, maintenance and repair of all generator units and automatic transfer switches.

3. HVAC Systems and Controls – Responsible for HVAC and Controls design coordination, commissioning and recommissioning of systems when needed, preventative maintenance plans including implementation and oversight of the same, and maintenance and repair.

4. Roof Systems - Responsible for design coordination, commissioning of roof systems, preventative maintenance plans including implementation, and oversight of the same, and maintenance and repair.

5. Elevator Inspections – Responsible for design coordination, commissioning and recommissioning of elevator systems and inspections when needed, preventative maintenance plans including implementation and oversight of the same, and annual inspections and maintenance and repair.

6. Maintaining the Facilities Plans and Records – Maintains a data base of all facilities plans, inspection records, special certifications, and other facility related documents.

7. Special Projects - Participates in special projects that may be assigned from time to time based on workload and Company requirements.

8. On-Site Facility Review - Dedicate fifty percent of time on-site in facilities to ensure proper implementation of preventative maintenance, maintenance of areas of responsibility, and to identify problem areas and understand user needs and complaint areas related to facilities.

9. Facility Certifications - Responsible for special facility inspections such as a 40 / 10 year recertification’s.

10. Issue Response – Works with maintenance personnel to respond to after hours and weekend emergency requests in a timely manner.

11. Budgeting - Budgeting and advance forecasting for all areas of responsibility.

12. Vendor Management - Works closely with outside vendors and contractors for areas under the Facilities Engineer purview to ensure administrative work (contracting and insurance) as well as physical work is completed according to specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough knowledge of and skill in use of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices in multiple building maintenance crafts with emphasis on HVAC and Controls.
  • Competent in using computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and knowledge of YARDI.
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to multiple building maintenance crafts.
  • Budget management experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Fluent in English and Spanish

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid State of Florida Driver License, Class E

EDUCATION

  • High school Diploma
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Facilities Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or Construction engineering or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) credential or equivalent certification is desired.
