Business Intelligence Analyst

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer works closely with end users to design and deliver reporting solutions that provide timely, accessible information for informed decision‑making. Using available data, this role helps address organizational challenges through reporting, analysis, and data visualization. The BI Developer also serves as an enterprise-wide data warehouse expert, with a strong emphasis on data architecture, access, security, utilization, and information quality. In addition, they support managers and staff across the organization who depend on data for decision support, collaborating especially closely with the Directors of Institutional Research.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops automated reports and dashboards using Tableau, SSRS, Crystal Reports, and other reporting tools
  • Develops test plans, cases, scenarios and scripts to ensure end result aligns with business need.
  • Troubleshooting issues with users directly and performing end user trainings as necessary
  • Engages business users, analysts, technical staff, and project team members to design, develop, implement, and enhance reports.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of corporate data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data dictionaries and data element naming standards.
  • Provides input to project planning, status and review meetings.
  • Responsible for contributing to a productive office work environment.
  • Provides friendly, customer-oriented responses to all inquiries.
  • Demonstrates courtesy and politeness to patients, visitors and other employees.
  • Maintains open channels of communication with center administration and other company departments.
  • Answers all inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, clearly and accurately communicating complex and/or technical information to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong TSQL scripting abilities and understanding of complex stored procedures, views, data aggregation/manipulation through table joins/queries, database design, normalization and de-normalization techniques
  • Demonstrated attention to detail on ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the Datawarehouse and the individual work units.
  • Ability to use presentation, word processing, and database or spreadsheet software.
  • Flexibility/adaptability – Ability to change priorities quickly and often.
  • Analytical Skills - Ability to critically, judiciously, and quickly evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicting input, decompose high-level information into details, abstract low-level information to more general level, distinguish presented user requests from the true underlying needs, and distinguish solution ideas from actual requirements.
  • Listening Skills - Ability to understand not only what people say but what they might be hesitant to say or what they may be unable to effectively communicate.
  • Writing skills – Ability to document requirements through Use Cases and User Stories and communicate information effectively to customers, users, managers, and technical staff.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Business Intelligence Analyst (or similar position) in a medium to large organization preferably in Health Care.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
